How to switch off negative thinking and improve your health

You’re an amazing and unique individual. We’re not guessing, we know this is true. Why? Because there’s no one like you walking this planet. You’re the unique product of your environment, your upbringing, your culture, your language and your experience. That’s why.

But that doesn’t mean it’s easy to remember, much less celebrate this fact. If you’re someone who finds themselves experiencing negative thinking, I’m here to show you how to turn those thoughts around. You don’t have to live with negative thinking patterns. It’s time for you to take control.

At StudioThink App, we’re all about handing the control to you. Or rather helping you realise you had it all along. Being in the driving seat of your own life isn’t something you need to ask permission for. It’s something you were born to be. If you’re looking to become a better, happier version of yourself, start with your inner world. It’s a great point to begin that journey. And right from the start, let me tell you, you are that person you want to be. You need to work on recognising and believing that.

Your Positive Thinking Journey Starts Here

Let’s jump straight into the deep end and start with a question. What’s holding you back? What is it that happens when your thoughts slip into negative thinking? Be honest. Is it a matter of habit? Perhaps there’s an element of self-protection. The idea that if you think badly of yourself or others, you won’t be surprised when they let you down.

Take some time to think this through. It’s worth it. Write down some thoughts if it helps. And yes, taking some time to do this, for you, that’s amazing.

Ask yourself what you tend to focus your negative thoughts on. Are they outside, towards other people and situations or inside at yourself? Leave your judgement at the door on this one.

You’ve no doubt come up with some fascinating insights about what you think about and why you think about them. These are just a few of the keys to success, when it comes to transforming negative thought patterns.

Before we press on with what you need to do next, let’s talk about the why. Why would you put the work in to live more positively?

Benefits Of Positive Thinking

Sounds like an obvious kind of question and I suppose the answer might be “to feel better”. But let’s think about that a bit more. What would thinking more positively actually do for you? How could it change your career or your relationships?

It’s all an inside job. You light the fire inside and focus on transforming negative thoughts and everything changes. And I say that from personal experience.

That wheel of “I’m not good enough”, “I always get let down” or “I’m not loveable” is a hard one to jump off. It’s also a self-fulfilling prophecy. You know the expression ‘you are what you eat’? Well you are what you think. By telling yourself and others you’re not good enough, that’s how you’re treated. You give permission to be overlooked. Why should you let that happen? Remember what we said at the beginning?

By changing that thought pattern, challenging that negative thinking, you’re telling everyone a very different story.

A story that goes: I am loved and appreciated. I’m confident and that job is within my capabilities. Start telling yourself these truths and you start showing them to everyone around you. Your attitude changes, your body language changes. Your goals become reachable. Telling yourself you’re going to get fit but holding onto a belief you’ll fail does nothing for you. Setting bite size goals, backed up with a positive mindset, that’s achievable.

Reversing that negative thinking pattern and living an intentional and positive one is a decision that can’t help but gather momentum.

The more you think positively, the more you act positively. You become a walking, talking self-fulfilling prophecy.

And now I’m sure you want to know how.

Transforming Negative Thinking Into Positive Living

I know you want to hear that success can happen overnight. We all do but as I said earlier, this is a journey. Sure there are some things you can do straight away to make a difference and here are a few actions:

• Challenge every negative thought

• Keep a journal of when you’re feeling negative and spot patterns and triggers

• Make an action plan for when negative thoughts pop into your head

• Begin to spot opportunities to think more positively about people, situations and yourself

These four points alone will form a good foundation. But don’t sell yourself short. If you’re serious about making lasting change and seeing big improvements take it further.
